Inheritance: Week 1
Abraham's inheritance (and ours) is the promise to be blessed to become a blessing. Abraham fails to do so in stunning form here, passing his wife off as his sister and entrapping the entire land in infertility and the looming shadow of death. In the end, though Abraham prays that their lives be spared, the only person blessed in the end is Abraham with his new flock and a ton of silver. How often might fear cause us to twist our inheritance in ways that harms others rather than blessing them?
