Call to Worship

Leader: Let this be the place of welcome, a place for returning and renewing.

People: Likewise, may our country be a place of welcome, where everyone is created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Leader: Let this be a place of love, a place where every child of God is embraced. 

People: Likewise, may God’s embrace of our children protect them from all harm wherever they may be and nurture them so as to follow the teachings of Jesus.    

Leader: Let this be a place of hope, a place where God makes all things new.

People: Likewise, when hope fails us in this world, may we live our lives based on the teachings of Jesus so we are right with ourselves, with our neighbors, and most of all, with God.

Leader: Let this be a place of love, a place where the Holy Spirit lives and works in us all. 

People: Likewise, may the Holy Spirit guide us on our paths, so that the Fruits of the Spirit truly be how people act towards each other.

Children’s Message

Opening Prayer

God of love, of light, and truth, we embrace your continued presence in our lives. May we live our lives based on the teachings of your Son so that we may be role models to our kids and in turn, they can be role models to their kids. If we all lived our lives as your Son taught us, our world would be very different. We pray that you open the hearts of those who have closed their hearts to you. Open the hands of those with fists so as to reach out with love and caring to those in need. Open the minds of those who are in dark places so they may bask in your grace-filled presence. Lord of love and grace, you sent your son to show us the way. May all of our hearts, hands, and minds be open to the teachings of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving 

God, thank you for being with us today and always. Through the life of your Son, Jesus, you have shown us the path upon which we must walk so that peace will reign over all the Earth. So that we will love our neighbors. So that we will hold out our open hands in love and caring to those who are less fortunate than we. Let us be a reflection of your Son, to follow his teachings and be godly examples to our children and our grandchildren. And may they hold the light of Jesus in their hearts forever more so our world will become a place of love and compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
