Call to Worship (from Psalm 50: 1-8, 22-23) Teresa Sannes

Leader: The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.

People:  From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.

Leader: Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.

People: He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:

Leader: Gather to me this consecrated people, who  made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

People: And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice.
Leader: Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel: I am God, your God.

People: I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.

Leader: Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
People: Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Gracious and merciful Creator, we give thanks for the miracle of life and for the gift of your light shining through us. As summer fades and autumn approaches, we celebrate the glorious weather of this season and the next. We offer our gratitude for these lazy, hazy, crazy days and for the life-giving rains that fall upon us. We marvel at the strength of the turbulent storms that sometimes come our way, and we rejoice at the love shown by those who help in times of crisis. We thank you for the gift of Jesus and for the love of family and friends. We ask humbly that you touch our lives with healing and wholeness; allow us to experience your Holy Spirit flowing through is in this sacred place. Amen.
